Borscht is a symbolic food because all the ingredients are simple making the meal easy to make and it has many nutrients that are helpful in the cold.

Russian food is usually rich and needs to give you a lot of energy due to the cold weather and winters.  Good types if foods are potato, bread, eggs, meat, and butter.  The traditional appetizers are gurkins, cabbage, and salads.  For soups it’s, beetroot, Borsch, and Okroshka.  The main courses are Pelmeni, Beef stroganoff, and any vegetable and meat dishes.  Garnishes and Dressings are potatoes, grechka, and Russian kashas.  And the traditional deserts are Blini, syrniki, and honey.
